blog post #10

As a teacher I think that I will use data collection to make my students' experiences better. I would give them a survey at the end of the year asking them what assignments they did and did not find useful to their learning experience. It could also be used for a more specific context as well. Say I had a group of 9th graders in my Intro to Technology class. I could teach them how to make a survey, the proper methods of data collection, and how to remain unbiased. They could afterwards put the data into and Excel spreadsheet for analysis, similar to how we did this assignment in class.

While reviewing my classmates' blogs I got to know my fellow classmates better and I learned more about educational technology. My favorite posts were the ones on adaptive technology. I never knew that there were so many options out there for all types of learners. I loved to see what technologies my classmates found innovative and interesting. I also liked to hear what types of technologies and websites for professional development they liked. I never knew that there were so many options available online to further a teacher's development that do not cost anything.

The next technology-related skill that I would like to learn is how to use Photoshop. I think that it is a useful skill and that it would be very interesting to learn how to do. There are so many different possibilities and I would love to learn how to use it. Lynda has tutorials on different skills within Photoshop and now that I know that I can view them for free through FSU I will use those videos to learn how to use it. The software is also available on the FSU school computers so I will not have to buy it. Hopefully I can learn over the summer because I think editing photos would be a very useful skill.
